The Collection Collecor #11: Crosses

The Collector: Wilna Adriaanse
The Collection: Crosses
Reason for collecting: 'Although I have always been fascinated by the form of the cross, I never decided to become a collector. For many years it was only the bronze one from Mexico. And then a friend gave me another one and before long there were a little group of crosses. And from there on many more found their way - from all over the world- to my wall. I have but one pre-requisite: I am not allowed to buy any for myself. I do however has made myself a pewter one.

Maybe the following quote is true for all collectors: "Collecting is the only socially commendable form of greed!" '

Paper lover: Tatebanko, the forgotten Japanese art of paper dioramas

-Tatebanko-

Tatebanko is the almost forgotten Japanese paper art of building dioramas. It was popular in Japan during the 17th century unitl the 19th century. Since then it has basically disappeared.

My sister Renee brought me this diorama, which she bought at Muji (who is now doing an entire series). I built it during the holidays and this is result. It's so pretty, I'm glad it's making a comeback.
